Dr. Sumit Basu
Dr. Sumit Basu graduated in medicine from St. Petersburg University, Russia in 1991 and completed his postgraduate training in Radiation Oncology at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai (1994–1999). He joined Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune as a Consultant and played a key role in the conceptualization and establishment of its state-of-the-art cancer centre in 2005, which housed India’s first IGRT facility.He received advanced training in Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) and Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) in the USA, and has extensive expertise in stereotactic radiation techniques (SRS/SRT, SBRT/SABR). His clinical interests include women’s cancers, prostate cancer, CNS tumours, and solid tumours, with a strong focus on minimizing radiation-related toxicities through advanced planning techniques.After over two decades as Head of Radiation Oncology at Ruby Hall Clinic, he has joined Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH) as Senior Consultant, Radiation Oncology. He is also a DNB-accredited teacher and examiner and a regular speaker at national and international scientific forums.
