Cyberabad Cops had busted a gang from Telangana and AP running a similar Aeps Fraud following the latest breach. The state property registration department in India has started masking fingerprints and Aadhaar numbers on scanned copies of sale deeds and rental agreements to prevent Aadhaar-linked fraud. This move comes after receiving advice from the Unique Identification Authority of India. Previously, fraudsters were collecting fingerprints and Aadhaar numbers by downloading documents from government websites. In the last three months, over 8 lakh documents have had their fingerprints and Aadhaar numbers masked. This measure is aimed at protecting people's privacy and security.

The government on Sunday withdrew an advisory of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) that cautioned the public against sharing photocopies of their Aadhaar with any organisation. "In view of the possibility of the misinterpretation of the press release, the same stands withdrawn with immediate effect," said a statement from the ministry of electronics & IT.

Carrying out paperless KYC without accessing the Adhaar database is possible by scanning the QR code on the physical Aadhaar card from willing customers.
