Somnath Temple is a sacred Hindu shrine situated on the western coast of Gujarat. This holy temple is believed to be the first among the twelve jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva. It has been destroyed and reconstructed a number of times in the past. The structure that we see today is built in Chaulukya style of Hindu temple architecture and was envisioned by Vallabhbhai Patel.

The temple of Somnath has been a sought-after pilgrimage site from a long time as it is considered to be formed at the Triveni sangam, meaning the confluence of three rivers — Kapila, Hiran and the mythical Sarasvati.
