The Punjab Police's Antigangster Task Force (AGTF) arrested three operatives of gangster Rajesh Kumar alias sonu khatri for their direct involvement in the murder of Makhan Kang at Nawanshahr in March last year. The accused - Amandeep Kumar alias Rancho Shivam alias Avtar alias Tara and Gurmukh Singh alias Gora all residents of Nawanshahr - were arrested from Ambivali in Maharashtra's Thane District. All the accused persons have a criminal history with a number of cases pertaining to murder attempt to murder extortion carjacking and under the NDPS Act registered against them. DGP Gaurav Yadav said using technical and human intelligence, the AGTF traced out the location of the accused persons in Maharashtra following which a police team was sent to get them.

The truck driver and his helper have been arrested while the person who arranged for the drug supply and one of his accomplices are still at large.
