Neuchatel

Neuchatel is a dreamy town with imposing steeples, a pristine lake and a thriving university. This architectural delight is so tiny that you could discover all of its sights on foot. With a medieval heart and a cultural soul, it has an impressive castle and a Collegiate church in its Old Town, both of which date back to the 12th century and make for popular sightseeing options. For all history enthusiasts, Neuchatel has the Laténium, which is the largest archaeological museum in the country and documents more than 50,000 years of the history of the region. There is also the Museum of Art and History inside the Palace of Fine Arts that has fascinating collections that are divided into fine arts, history, applied arts and numismatics sections.
This town also has a home mountain called the Chaumont which is perched at a staggering 1100 m and has excellent views of Mont Blanc, Bernese Alps and Jura and the three lakes. Lake Neuchatel is an equally gorgeous phenomenon and cruising along its azure waters is an unforgettable experience.

The suburban S-Bahn rail connects Bern to Neuchatel and it’s an hour long journey and might require a few changes, depending on the connection. Check the SBB website for more information. This resort is like a slice of the Mediterranean in Switzerland and warrants a visit.
