Wanted to show, I can be a girl next door and pull off a glam avatar too: Actress Ushasi Ray

Popularity, projects in her kitty, and the title of Times Most Desirable Woman on Bengali TV- she has it all. And her latest transformation and glammed-up photos have been making quite some noise as well. Milon Tithi’s sweet Ahana has certainly come a long way! In a candid conversation with ETimes TV, actress Ushasi Ray pours her heart out… Read on. (Photo: Facebook)

Turning heads with her latest transformation

Viewers have seen Ushasi in different avatars so far. None of her reel characters on television has been similar to the previous one. She played the role of a dutiful wife, tomboyish Bokul, and the first female doctor Kadambini Ganguly, too. And Ushasi’s recent transformation is worth a mention. When asked about the same, she says, “Viewers have seen me in a certain way. They have seen me playing the girl next door, a dutiful housewife or working professional. I was mostly seen wearing a saree or a salwar kamiz. I wanted to show that I can be both. I can be the girl next door they have seen on television and pull off a glam avatar too." (Photo: Facebook)

Being most desirable

The actress earned the title of Times Most Desirable Woman on Bengali TV 2020, leaving all other leading ladies behind. “Never in my wildest dream, I thought of winning that title. It was a big surprise for me and I am really happy,” says Ushasi with a shy smile. (Photo: Facebook)

'An actor should never stop experimenting'

“Being an actor, I believe, we all should push our envelopes. Be it the characters we play on-screen or the avatar in which we are mostly seen, actors should keep experimenting. I just wanted to do some changes to the image,” says the actress about her latest transformation.

A shy confession

The actress shared her experience of her first photoshoot in an all-glammed-up avatar that made heads turn. “Initially, I was a bit stiff during the photoshoot. Sandy, who did the styling, is a very talented person and my good friend. I took some tips from Sandy about posing. But in front of the camera, I was a bit stiff because a lot of things were in my mind. Sandy and our photographer suggested that I should pose naturally and not follow anyone. Once I followed it, things worked,” says Ushasi. The actress looked picture perfect in every frame.

‘Things should be aesthetically pleasing’

“We all grow up with some basic ethics and principles. My parents always told me- Ja e korbe aesthetically jyano bhalo hoy (Whatever you do make sure it is aesthetically pleasing). Moreover, I have my seniors and juniors from school on my social media page. My fans follow me, too, so I would never do anything that doesn’t look good. All these points were in my mind when I was doing the photoshoot,” says the actress. (Photo: Facebook)

Memorable moment

Ushasi shared how all these days have been equally memorable for her. “I can’t tell you about one particular moment or one day that’s memorable. Each and every day of my journey has been memorable in different ways,” says Ushasi. (Photo: Facebook)

A funny incident

The bubbly actress shared an interesting experience with us. “We went to Egypt for holidays a year back. Outside the museum, I was arguing with my parents due to some silly reasons. Little did I know that someone would recognise me! As I was busy making my point, two women recognised my voice as Bokul and approached me. I spoke to them too. I was really embarrassed,” she laughs out loud. (Photo: Facebook)

'When I am not shooting...'

“I read books, watch movies, series mostly when I am not shooting. I am a true blue travel enthusiast. But due to the restrictions amid the pandemic, things have completely changed. For more than a year, we are at home and stepping out only when it is necessary. Earlier, we used to eagerly wait for the day when we can take rest at home. But now, we look forward to the day when we can go out,” she says. (Photo: Facebook)

My journey

The actress made her debut in 2015 and there was no looking back. Milon Tithi’s Ahaha is now Miss Desirable. Speaking about the journey, she says, “It has been an amazing journey. I have learned so many things. I am indebted to the audience for their unconditional love and support. If I don’t post on social media, they send me messages enquiring whether I am well. People speak about the flip side of social media, but I would like to highlight the other side. Due to the social media platform, I am able to connect to the fans. Otherwise, it would be difficult to connect this way.” (Photo: Facebook)
