'Anupamaa' written update, January 1: Chawl members turn against Anupama as Rahi suspects something is wrong with Rajni

As Anupama signed the papers away and Bharti and Varun's wedding was a major success, the police's arrival at the chawl threw everything off balance. The last episode showed the chawl members and the media demeaning Ishani and Jaspreet; however, both Anupama and Rajni jumped in for defense.

Anupama and Rajni defend Ishani and Jaspreet

Both of the women are actively trying to protect the girls from the chawl's comments. Anupama points out that the media should not create narratives on its own but rather create some direction with some other rumor they may have heard.

Anupama and Rajni reach the police station

The duo reaches the police station after confronting the media about their image. Ishani immediately gets up to hug her grandmother as the two rejoice at their reunion. Ishani then pleads with Anupama to understand her side and to believe her when she says that she is not involved in the prostitution allegations. She also reveals that Jaspreet was only there to help Ishani.

Anupama reassured her that she knows that she's innocent and that people will fight for her no matter what. Rajni and Anupama explain the situation to the police, and Rajni even calls the commissioner to request fair treatment and a thorough investigation.

The papers are signed

The scene shifts to Gaurav, who goes to his family and tells them that the NOC for the redevelopment papers has officially been signed by Anupama. Parag then also tells Gautam to keep the fact hidden that Anupama lives in the chawl to avoid any issues.

Mahi later comes in and reveals what has happened with Ishani and Jaspreet, which leaves Parag a little worried and wondering about whether his project will be affected or not.

Paritosh blames Anupama

Anupama's son, Paritosh, blames his mother for all the mishaps and for Ishani's controversy as well. He makes up his mind to go to Mumbai to get her back but instead is stopped at the doorstep by Kinjal.

Prerna and Rahi's conversation

Prerna and Rahi have set aside their differences and are now okay with each other. The two have a conversation about whatever is happening around them. Prerna also advises that she should be wary of her mother, Rajni. On the other hand, Rajni and Anupama bring the girls back from the police station. As Anupama finds out that the wedding has already happened, she is left heartbroken. Ishani then apologizes to everyone around her for her actions. Ishani and Jaspreet are bombarded by the media, who keep on asking questions about the situation. While Anupama urges Ishani to respond truthfully, the chawl members also turn against the family. They also start accusing her of prostitution and start demanding that she leave.

Prem and Rahi also overhear Prerna and Varun talking about how there may be a hidden agenda after the wedding is over, leaving the two of them suspicious. While Rahi wants to confront Prerna and Varun, Prem urges her to cool down and not jump to any conclusions just yet.

The preview for the next episode shows a woman throwing her sandal at Ishani. This infuriates her as she confronts the chawl members and calls them out for their actions against the girl.
