Ekta Kapoor made a mockery of Mahabharat; her Draupadi had a tattoo, Pandavas had six pack abs: Mukesh Khanna

Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, who is best remembered as Bhishmapitamaha from BR Chopra's Mahabharat, is quite vocal about his opinions and thoughts. The actor in a recent video posted on one of his social media accounts can be seen lashing out at TV czarina Ekta Kapoor for making a mockery of epic saga, Mahabharata.

Mukesh criticises Ekta

The actor criticised the soap queen for changing the storyline of Mahabharat and making it modernised. He also objected that Ekta showed Draupadi with a tattoo and Pandavas flaunting six pack abs.

Mukesh on how he bagged the role of Bhishmapitamaha

He also goes on to share in the video that he had to go through proper audition rounds to bag the role of Bhishmapitamaha while Ekta roped in actors based on their popularity for her version of Mahabharat.

Mukesh slams makers of historical shows

The seasoned actor also objected to other producers’ versions of historical and mythological dramas, like Maharana Pratap and Jhansi Ki Rani etc... exploit child actors since Balika Vadhu worked. He said just for the sake of TRPs they continue the show with child actors.

5/8

Mahabharat was turned into a daily soap

In an interview to Times Of India in 2014, Mukesh had said, "I tried watching them but the way they keep twisting the plot, stuffing tales unheard of selling that in the name of creativity is something I find disgusting."

6/8

Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki was horrendous

He added, "They make a serial on Maharana Pratap and keep showing the exploits of young Maharana for years. Same goes for Rani Laxmibai. When Ekta made Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki, I found it so horrendous that I had decided to take her to court."

7/8

Mukesh questioned Ekta

Mukesh questioned, "The way she made a mockery of Mahabharata was absolutely incomprehensible. Can you do that with the sacred texts of religions other than Hinduism? I think not."

8/8

Was a dud

Ekta Kapoor's Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki aired in 2008 and was considered as an epic disaster. It was shutdown within four months of its airing.
