Exclusive: Rubina Dilaik says ‘We are constantly on our toes’ on their twin baby girls Jeeva and Edhaa

Rubina Dilaik is all set to mark her entry into Punjabi cinema with her debut film "Chal Bhajj Chaliye." During the recent screening event, ETimes TV got in conversation with Rubina, alongside her sister Jyotika and mother. Rubina shared insights into the hurdles she encountered while filming during pregnancy, her experiences post motherhood, and upcoming holiday plans with her daughters Jeeva and Edhaa.

Shooting for a Punjabi film while being pregnant

Now when I look back I am extremely grateful that I had all the protection from the universe and all the love from my family. That time set pe kisi ko nahi pata tha. I remember Jyotika (her sister) coming down taking care of me, mom coming down specially taking care of me during the schedule and I was really very careful. Doctors 24-7 on call rehte the. Bahut garmi thi, bahut zyada challenging tha but now when I look back, I have made a piece of memory for my daughters. And once they grow up, I'll proudly say that you were there with me dancing in the film. And this is what three of us, we did on screen.

Born Pahadi, being married to Punjabi, did Abhinav help you with the dialect?

He's been helping me, I think, ever since we've met. Because at home, we play Punjabi songs, there’s a Punjabi culture, I mean, they know it well that at home, every evening, authentic Punjabi songs are played. And for communication, of course, in Punjabi, over a period of time, unknowingly I have learned it and it has imbibed itself in me. So I think that really, really helped.

Daily scenes at house with the twin baby girls

We are constantly on our toes. My mother is fully dedicated. She's like a rock solid support in the family and it's just because of her that I have been able to step out for film promotions. As far as the environment is concerned, every time I try to step out, they start crying. We are trying to manage.

Coming up with second season of her podcast

My podcast on pregnancy ‘Kisi Ne Bataya Nahi’, people really, really appreciated it. And that is the sole reason that we are doing another season for Kisi Ne Bataye Nahi. I think in a couple of days we'll reveal what it is about.

Rubina’s mother on seeing Rubina-Abhinav as parents

Parents have this dream that they see their children in the role of mom and dad. It feels good, it feels very good that they have become mom and dad.

Rubina on sister Rohini’s newborn baby girl

We are three sisters and we got three sisters. Yeah, I think my mother was happier than us when she got to know we gave birth to baby girls. Our mom says the Edhaa has resemblance to me, Jeeva thodi thodi, Rohini ke jaise characteristics hai I am sure Veda is something like Jyotika.

On husband Abhinav Shukla’s absence from the screening

Abhinav is in Punjab. We are taking our daughters to meet our extended families. So now we had so much of luggage that we had to take a car. So he took the car 4 days back and he is waiting for us there. We will join him today.

On making her debut in the Punjabi film industry

I wanted to take my first step in the Punjabi industry for a long time. I was praying for the right opportunity and this opportunity just fell in the lap.
