Insecurity is a part of an actor’s life: Priyanka Chahar Choudhary
TV’s naagin on uncertainty, persistence and finding peace in the waiting game
Priyanka Chahar Choudhary is currently basking in the spotlight as television’s latest Naagin. However, the journey to landing the much-coveted role was not an overnight one. After her impactful stint on Bigg Boss 16, the actress found herself navigating a prolonged waiting period before the project finally took shape.Reflecting on that phase and whether it tested her patience as an artiste, Priyanka shares, “I remember being told during Bigg Boss that I would be the next Naagin, and I was extremely excited. But like everyone else, I had to wait for it to actually happen. There were discussions, phases of uncertainty, and a lot of waiting. As actors, we’re used to auditions and meetings that don’t always convert immediately, but I’m grateful that this eventually materialised. In an industry where momentum plays a crucial role, gaps between projects can often feel overwhelming. Sharing how she deals with such phases, Priyanka says, “I don’t like taking stress. I feel that when you work under pressure, you can never give your 100 per cent. On days when I’m not shooting, I keep myself busy with classes. I’m constantly learning — dance, aerial training, workshops — something or the other. Not to distract myself, but because I genuinely enjoy learning new things.
She adds, “Insecurity is a part of an actor’s life. You never really know what’s coming next. The waiting period can be tough, especially when good work doesn’t come your way immediately. But I also don’t want to take up just anything random. That phase truly tests your patience. Over time, patience becomes a part of every artist’s journey. I’ve learned that with experience, and today, I’m at peace with it.”
