Lekha Prajapati recalls her CID days; says she learned more than a film school: 'Can't Express In Words'
Lekha Prajapati has been quietly making her space in the industry with roles that feel real and strong. Instead of sticking to one kind of character, she has explored different shades on screen, which has helped her grow as a performer. Among her recent works, her appearance as a CID officer in CID Season 2 stands out, especially because it gave her a chance to be part of a show she had grown up watching.Talking about her experience, Lekha shared that working with a team that has been associated with the show for years felt surreal. “The experience working with the team that has been associated with CID for years was amazing. I cannot probably express it in words. I have been watching the entire show since childhood. ‘Daya, darwaza tod do,’ ‘Kuch toh gadbad hai,’ the CID title track, and the police siren coming in — the moment anybody says CID, these are certain things and moments which pop into each person's heart and mind, especially Indians, because the Indian audience has been obsessed with CID. They've been watching CID since childhood.” She further opened up about her first day on set and the warmth she received from the team.
“I was really happy. I remember my first scene was with Daya sir. They are all so kind.”Lekha also spoke highly about the senior actors and the learning she gained from them. “Pradyuman sir (Shivaji Satam) is a 70-plus-year-old actor, and I got an opportunity to work with somebody so senior. Abhijeet sir (Aditya Srivastava) is an institution of acting. He has been a part of various films and other commercial setups. It was like going to a film school, honestly. I learned so many things by being on set with them. If I had ever gone to a film school, I don't think I would have learned this much.”She concluded by highlighting what makes the CID team stand out even today. She said, “Also, there's this one more thing about all the actors who have been working with CID and who have been associated with it — there's an ease when they act. There's an ease with which they carry themselves, and I think it has a lot to do with experience.”
