A true artiste focuses less on the medium and more on the opportunities that allow him to explore his craft. For Reyaansh Vir Chadha, who wasn’t inspired by the offers coming his way on television, this meant branching out into newer formats and stories. After his appearance in Spark My Fire, a micro drama loosely inspired by Fifty Shades of Grey, he is now gearing up for another short-format thriller titled I Killed My Boss. Talking about his latest project, the actor, who has been part of shows like Nadaan Parindey Ghar Aaja, Kahani Hamari Dil Dosti Deewanepan Ki and Aggar Tum Na Hote, shares, “There were various reasons that came into play when I took this on. First, it’s being made for a popular platform, so I was certain the quality would be great. Secondly, the story is really nice and gripping. It’s a murder mystery filled with eye-popping twists and turns. My character goes from being a simple guy to becoming a hero and a saviour. He’s clear about his principles, which is something I relate to personally. I’m very excited because this role is unlike my previous flamboyant and heroic characters.” Reflecting on Spark My Fire, he says, “I hadn’t tried something like that before.
The series was on the lines of Fifty Shades of Grey, and my main reason to do it was the director, Vaibhav Singh. I’d worked with him before and knew he would treat it aesthetically. Despite the genre, there was no explicit content — it was suggestive. As an actor, I wanted to explore how I would respond to this kind of storytelling. I’ve done many romantic scenes on TV, but this felt different. I enjoyed playing a character who respected women and was deeply focused on his work.” Sharing what keeps him motivated across formats, he says, “Micro dramas are exciting when you shoot with the right people, and fortunately, the team was fantastic. At the end of the day, it’s the energy on set that defines how much you enjoy the process, not the length or scale of the project.”
