Samikssha Batnagar on replacing Sukirti Kandpal as Shruti in Anupamaa: I’m approaching it as a completely new role
After a noticeable gap, the character of Shruti Ahuja is set to return to Rajan Shahi’s Anupamaa, bringing a fresh twist to the ongoing narrative. This time, the role will be portrayed by Samikssha Batnagar, who steps in to replace Sukirti Kandpal, the previous face of the character.
The casting marks a significant moment in the storyline, as viewers will see Shruti re-enter the show with a new presence and possibly a renewed arc. For Samikssha, this opportunity comes as both a milestone and a moment of gratitude as she makes her way back to television.
Expressing her excitement, Samikssha says, “I feel delighted and blessed to be stepping into Anupamaa with such a powerful role. The show is already doing wonderfully, and I am grateful to now be a part of this journey. My heartfelt thanks to Rajan Shahi sir for believing in me and recognising my potential.”
The actor also finds herself at an interesting juncture in her career. “It feels like I am on cloud nine. My film Shri Baba Neeb Karori Maharaj is releasing on April 24, and my television journey is beginning again at the same time. I also have a few exciting OTT projects lined up,” she shares, attributing this phase to her spiritual faith.
She adds, “I believe all of this is the divine blessing of Neeb Karori Maharaj. As a devotee of Lord Hanuman since childhood, I feel deeply protected. I am receiving a lot of positivity and hope the audience embraces me in this new avatar.”
Interestingly, this is the first time Samikssha is stepping into a role previously played by another actor. Speaking about her approach, she says, “I have not followed Sukirti’s portrayal, so I am approaching it as a new role. I cannot reveal much right now, but the character graph is quite interesting and will add drama to the show.”
Samikssha was last seen on television 11 years ago in the silent comedy Gupp Chupp, making this return all the more special.
