Shark Tank India judge Namita Thapar opens up about 2 failed IVF attempts, explains a key cause of infertility, and suggests a simple early test
Namita Thapar, a successful entrepreneur and a judge on Shark Tank India, recently opened up about a personal part of her life while using her experience to spread awareness. Namita recently took to her social media account to share her experience with IVF. She pointed out the emotional strain people face and stressed the need for better fertility education.
She shared a video on her social media account and wrote, "I have gone through 2 failed IVF & I can assure you that this is a time where not only emotions, trauma but also misinformation & ignorance runs high. People need to get educated. In a country where 57% women have iron deficiency, this is an important test prior to an IVF attempt."
Namita has spoke about her difficult pregnancy even in the past. She has always been vocal about her second pregnancy struggle after an easy first one. She revealed undergoing two failed IVF treatments and battling depression. “The emotional and physical pain I went through was immense,” she admitted.
After giving up hope, she eventually conceived naturally, calling it a miracle.
On Shark Tank India Season 2, she shared her feelings when entrepreneurs presented a home IUI kit designed to help couples facing infertility. She shared, "In my case when I was 28 years old I wanted to get pregnant and in 2 months I conceived and had a normal pregnancy and after that, for 3 to 4 years I tried and I couldn’t conceive. I have gone through 2 infertility treatments and those 25 injections and the emotional and physical pain that I went through. Even the taboo things that keep your legs up, crossing your legs and I already have kids but imagine the parents who don’t have kids. After two attempts I gave up and said that I am happy with one child. But then a miracle happened and I conceived naturally."
She added, "Apparently, the memory stayed with me and for 10 years I couldn’t talk about it publicly even on my YouTube channel I couldn’t as it was taboo to speak, a scar but 6 months back I spoke about infertility with the doctor and stayed up all night thinking if I could go public about this. People did support me and said it's private and why do you wanna talk about it? But then I listened to my heart and for the first time I spoke about it and have written about a particular thing in my book."
Her courage to share this private chapter years later inspired many to speak openly about infertility and emotional healing.
