The Great Indian Kapil Show: From eating popcorn for months to stay in shape to recalling her dandiya performance with Amitabh Bachchan; Rekha makes interesting revelations of B-town

The latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show turned soulful and glamorous with the iconic diva Rekha's charm. Draped in her reminiscent elegance, she entered Kap's Cafe to the soulful song of Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum, leaving everyone in awe. Even the audience mirrored her vibe, dressing out in sarees and jewels to respect the queen. Kapil and Rekha shared some intriguing similarities.

Kapil recited a few couplets admiring Rekha's beauty and revealed that she still styles her own outfits and prepares her own hair and makeup. Rekha revealed, "I only step out for an event once or twice in the year. So stylists are so expensive these days, I can't afford them seriously. Well, jokes apart, that's how I was brought up. My father is an actor and my mother is an actress and I say that in the present tense because I feel they are still with me. I have seen Amma since childhood on set and at home, her existence was so unique that I idolised her and learnt everything from her. Be it draping the saree, doing makeup, the solah sringar, everything I have learnt from Amma and doing it all my life. I am now 70 years old."

Kapil reveals that Rekha has graced his show after 10 years, "I had started my show on another channel and now after 10 years you have come back. A decade has passed by but I must say that nothing has changed about you. In these 10 years, once I shaved, I looked like Archana ji and once Archana ji didn't shave and she looked like Sidhu ji."

Kapil then shared, "Once Rekha ji ate popcorn for months. to stay in shape. I have also been offered a few films for the coming year, so how should I eat popcorn, before or after parathas? But is it true? And what should I drink?" Rekha replied, "Yes, it's true, but main toh sirf aansu piti thi, after having only popcorn for months you'd only feel like crying. I'd like to give you a tip, your mother is sitting here. You should wash her feet with clean water and drink that. That is the biggest elixir of life."

Kapil asked whether Rekha has had any crazy fan experiences, Rekha said, "Millions, one fan laid in front of my car and said, 'maar dalo mujhe, agar gaadi se utar ke jhappi nahi paya toh', knowing me what I would have done?" A fan said, 'you might have hugged him', Rekha affirmed and said, 'that's fans true love. I went out and hugged him. I didn't lose anything but gained a fan.'

Kapil then shared an anecdote, "Dharam paaji once told me that he was on a flight and Hrishikesh Mukherjee recited Anand's story to him. Later he came to know that they had signed Rajesh Khanna sahab already. Dharam Paaji then had 4 pegs at night and called Da, 'aapne meri jagah unko le liya.' Have you ever done something like that?" Rekha said, 'by god's of grace, there has always been an overflow of offers.'

Rekha shared an anecdote about her film Khoobsurat, "It was Hrishi da's film, Khoobsurat, he never tells the story for the film only says, 'chinumunu, ek film karna hai Khoobsurat, jaisi tum ho waise.' I didn't ask him about the hero, never did because he wouldn't tell me. So I signed up for the film. Meanwhile, he gets a call from Rakesh Roshan asking about whether I had refused for the film and Da said, 'who is she to refuse, I've said it, that's enough.' Later I asked him who was it and he said, 'Guddu' and I was like I'd love to work with him. Rakesh is very sweet."

A fan complimented Rekha for her 'Dandiya performance' in Suhaag. He shared how she nailed the Gujarati character in the film and asked her how she managed it. Rekha said, "Think about the personality of the person with whom I was playing dandiya. I obviously had to do a good job. Even if I didn't know dandiya, when he stood in front of me, I would just start dancing." Rekha's co-star in Suhaag was Amitabh Bachchan.
