A fire broke out at a residential high-rise in Mumbai on December 25, where filmmaker
Sandeep Singh known for movies like Priyanka Chopra’s 'Mary Kom', was also present. Initial it was stated that he was safe as he was on a different floor when the blaze erupted. However, confusion followed soon after. A hospital video and photos of Sandeep surfaced online, leading many to believe he had been injured in the incident. Putting all speculation to rest, Sandeep’s close friend Vicky Jain finally opened up and explained what really happened.
Vicky Jain explains the hospital photos
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Vicky clarified that they had nothing to do with the fire. He revealed that two unrelated events overlapped and caused the misunderstanding. Explaining the situation, he said, “There were two things that happened simultaneously. Sandeep had his hernia surgery on December 22, and he got discharged the day before and went to his house.”
He further explained that Sandeep lives on the 14th floor of the building, while the fire broke out on the 12th floor due to a short circuit. The timing of his surgery and the fire incident led to unnecessary panic online.
Divine intervention and the immediate callVicky also spoke about what he described as a stroke of luck that kept Sandeep safe.
He shared that Sandeep was shifted to another flat in the same building due to his post-surgery condition. “We have someone from our production live in the same building on the ninth floor When we got Sandeep discharged and took him home, we shifted him there as due to the surgery, he couldn’t walk properly or bend down during his recovery process. If he would have been on the 14th floor, it would have been a completely different and dangerous situation,” he said.
Recalling the tense moment, Vicky added, “When the incident happened, Sandeep immediately called me and Ankita and I rushed to him.” The couple then took him to their own house for safety.
How he is doing now
Giving a current update, Vicky assured that the Sandeep Singh is recovering well and is in good spirits. He confirmed that repair work is underway in the building and that Sandeep is staying with them for now. Speaking about his mental strength, Vicky said, “You have to not let it all get to your head and disturb you. It was a very serious thing but Sandeep is mentally very strong. He is keeping himself positive.”
