Iranian director Jafar Panahi freed on bail Friday after hunger strike

Acclaimed filmmaker Jafar Panahi was released on bail, two days after going on hunger strike to protest his six-year jail sentence, his supporters said. Panahi was arrested on charges of propagandizing against the government. He is among a number of Iranian artists, sports figures and other celebrities who have been detained after speaking out against the theocracy amid months of protests over the death of a young woman in police custody.
