At least 90 people were killed and more than 100 hospitalised after a powerful gas explosion ripped through a coal mine in Shanxi province, northern China. The blast struck the Liushenyu coal mine in Changzhi city on Friday evening, turning the site into a major disaster zone within moments. According to state media, around 247 miners were working underground at the time of the explosion. Emergency response teams, including hundreds of rescuers, medical staff, and police officers, were immediately deployed to the site to search for survivors and treat the injured. Many of the victims suffered from toxic gas exposure, with over 120 workers hospitalized and several still unaccounted for.
