The maritime war with Iran has just gone global. In a dramatic overnight operation, U.S. forces under INDOPACOM boarded the M/T Tifani, a stateless sanctioned vessel, in the Indo-Pacific—thousands of miles away from the Middle East. President Donald Trump has linked the seizure to a "gift" from China intended for Tehran, suggesting Beijing may have bypassed a previous understanding to refrain from restocking the Iranian military. As the ceasefire deadline looms, Washington is sending a clear message: there is no refuge for sanctioned vessels anywhere on the high seas.
