The Centre on Thursday clarified that no discussions have been held with Iran regarding any toll charges on Indian-flagged or operated vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed reports suggesting such levies, stating that no proposal has been raised with India. The statement comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region, with the crucial maritime corridor witnessing disruptions amid the ongoing Iran conflict. The Strait of Hormuz remains a vital global shipping route, carrying a significant share of the world’s oil and gas supplies, making any potential restrictions or changes a matter of international concern.
