Two TMC Councillors Arrested In A Day As Corruption Crackdown Intensifies

Kolkata Police arrested two TMC councillors, Sachin Singh and Arijit Das Thakur, on allegations including extortion, intimidation and unlawful collection of money. Singh is accused of extorting parking operators, seeking kickbacks and involvement in post-poll violence. The arrests come amid a wider anti-corruption drive and follow recent action against other TMC councillors, including Tarun Chakraborty and Sudip Polley. The developments have added to political pressure on the Trinamool Congress amid growing internal challenges.
