Union Budget 2022-23: FM proposes cut on customs duty on methanol, polished diamonds and gemstones

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed to reduce customs duties on certain chemicals, including methanol, to promote domestic manufacturing. FM also proposed customs duty exemption on steel scrap to be extended by a year to help MSMEs. However, customs duty on imitation jewellery was raised to discourage their imports.
