Piyush Goyal said that “for the first time, a unique exhibition, ‘My Sari, My Pride — Ek Virasat’, is being organized in Delhi to showcase 75 types of saris from across the country”.
“Sari is an identity of our country,” said Goyal while adding that from December 16, an exhibition ‘May Sari, My Pride — Ek Virasat’ is going to be organized at Janpath in New Delhi.
He said that in the festival 'My Sari My Pride' handwoven saris ranging from Patola, Banarasi, Paithani, Kanjivaram and others will be exhibited. He added that weavers from across the country will participate in the festival which will start from December 16th at Janpath Haat, New Delhi.
Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Finance Minister, said that the Ministry of Textiles has taken a unique step by organizing such an event in Central Delhi which exhibits the country's weavers and India’s tradition.
To mark the occasion, several female Twitter users shared their photos draped in Saree on micro-blogging platform under the hashtag #MySariMyPride, making the trend viral.
