​April K-Drama release calendar: From ‘Bloodhounds 2’ to ‘Yumi’s Cells 3’, here’s the 10 dramas you need to look out for

April is definitely going to be a jam-packed month with the release of multiple highly anticipated dramas. From the beloved action series ‘Bloodhounds’, to ‘Yumi’s Cells 3’, ‘The Scarecrow’, ‘We Are All Trying Here’, and many more, here is a look at all of the K-Dramas that you need to keep in mind for April.

‘Bloodhounds 2’ - April 3

Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi return once more as Kim Geon Woo and Hong Woo Jin for season 2 of ‘Bloodhounds.’ The drama will be available for viewing from April 3 on Netflix, along with the first season as well. The premise of the second season follows Geon Woo continuing on his dream of becoming a legendary boxing champion. However, when he crosses paths with a dangerous mafia leader, things will get more and more violent as he fights to survive. The antagonist will be played by Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji Hoon.

‘Perfect Crown’ - April 10

Starring IU and Byeon Woo Seok, the drama ‘Perfect Crown’ follows the iconic and popular genre of contract marriage. A wealthy and detached heiress and a neglected prince are bound together by fate, and by a contract as well, to keep up a united front for the public. This K-Drama will broadcast weekly on MBC and will also be available for streaming on Disney +. The first episode will air on April 10.

‘Yumi’s Cells 3’ - April 13

Actress Kim Go Eun returns for the third season of ‘Yumi’s Cells.’ It stars her as the titular character, Yumi, who has now become a professional writer and is excelling at work. However, her personal and social life seems to be left in shambles. Someone new enters her life at the right moment, though, bringing in the possibility of a new romance. The K-Drama will be available online on Viki from April 13 onwards.

‘Absolute Value of Romance’ - April 17

‘Absolute Value of Romance’ stars Kim Hyang Gi, Cha Hak Yeon, Kim Jae Hyun, Sohn Jeong Hyuck, and many others, and tells the tale of high school student Yeo Eui Ju. She writes BL stories and fanfictions online that have her handsome teachers as the main characters. However, once she starts getting involved in unexpected scenarios with all of the teachers that she has mentioned in her fanfiction, her life takes a drastic turn. The drama will be available for streaming on April 17, and will be there for viewers to watch on Coupang Play.

‘We Are All Trying Here’ - April 18

Koo Kyo Hwan, Go Youn Jung, and Oh Jung Se play the lead trio in this upcoming Korean drama. Releasing on April 18 on a weekly basis, this drama follows Hwang Dong Man, a man who is defeated by the unsuccessful life that he is living. Surrounded constantly by friends and family members who all seem to have it figured out, he leaves everything behind and sets out on a journey to discover what peace means to him. The drama will be available on Netflix.

‘The Scarecrow’ - April 20

Airing on April 20, ‘The Scarecrow’ is an upcoming and thrilling Korean drama that will follow detective Kang Tae Joo and prosecutor Cha Si Young as they investigate and solve a series of murders that have haunted the town. The series is set in between 1988 and 2019, and follows the story along across the 30-year-long timeline. Starring Park Hae Soo, Lee Hee Joon, and Kwak Sun Young in the leading roles, the drama will air on ENA, and will be available on Viki for streaming.

‘Sold Out on You’ - April 22

Ahn Hyo Seop and Chae Won Bin for this light-hearted yet emotional romantic comedy on April 22. The two stars play the roles of a successful home shopping host and a company CEO as they cross paths in the unlikeliest of ways. Love blossoms as the two learn and discover more about themselves and each other as well. The series will be available for viewing on Netflix.

‘If Wishes Could Kill’ - April 24

Releasing on April 24, this K-Drama stars Jeon So Young and Kang Mi Na in the lead roles and follows the lives of a couple of teenagers who come across an application that can grant them whatever they wish for. However, what they do not realize is that every wish they make has a price to pay. The thrilling drama explores themes of greed, love, friendship, and betrayal, and how even small decisions can have a huge effect on the things around them. ‘If Wishes Could Kill’ is being released on Netflix.

‘Filing for Love’ - April 25

Starring Shin Hae Sun and Gong Myung, ‘Filing for Love’ is a quirky romantic comedy set against the backdrop of a corporate office. The central focus of the show is on Noh Ki Joon, an ace who was well known in the company; however is demoted all of a sudden. Then comes in Joo In Ah, the spirited yet eccentric team lead with secrets. This drama will be made available on April 25 and will be airing on tvN. For streaming, it will be available on Viki.

‘Gold Land’ - April 29

The story follows a security screening officer, Hee Joo, who ends up finding a lot of gold bars during her work hours at the airport. As greed and betrayal bleed into her surroundings and ties to an illegal smuggling ring comes to light, Hee Joo must see who she can trust and who to abandon. This drama features a talented star cast including Park Bo Young, Kim Sung Cheol, Lee Hyun Wook, Kim Hee Won, Moon Jung Hee, and Lee Kwang Soo. It will air on April 29, and will be available for streaming on Disney +.
