ALIGARH: A 45-year-old woman was injured after two unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire at her in broad daylight in UP's Aligarh, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place at around 2 pm on Saturday near the busy Neori crossing under the Rorawar police station area.
The woman, identified as Rani, was on her way to work with her teenage daughter, Rihana, when the attack occurred.
According to police, the assailants, who had covered their faces, approached the woman and shot at her from close range before fleeing on their motorcycle. Her daughter witnessed the entire incident.
Rani was taken to District Malkhan Singh Hospital for treatment. Doctors said she suffered a gunshot wound near her hip and is in a stable condition.
Police suspect the shooting may be linked to a long-standing dispute involving the woman's family. Circle Officer Sarvam Singh said the possibility of old enmity is being examined as part of the investigation.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers.
A case has been registered, and efforts are under way to trace and arrest the accused.
