3 dead in rickshaw-car collision

Palanpur: Three women were killed and three others, including a car driver, were critically injured in a head-on collision between a rickshaw and a car near Hathrol village on the Himmatnagar–Gambhoi–Ranasan state highway on Tuesday.

According to police, the accident occurred when the rickshaw allegedly made a sudden and reckless turn, colliding head-on with an oncoming car.

“The rickshaw was being driven recklessly and the mishap occurred when it took a sudden turn, leaving the car driver with no time to react,” said AR Chaudhary, PI of Gambhoi police station, speaking to TOI.

Eyewitnesses stated that the rickshaw, while travelling along the highway stretch, suddenly turned right, resulting in a severe impact with the oncoming vehicle. The collision was so intense that the rickshaw was crushed, killing the three women passengers on the spot.

Local residents and passersby immediately rushed to the scene and alerted emergency services. The injured were shifted to Himmatnagar Civil Hospital via 108 ambulance services. The car driver and another injured person are stated to be in critical condition.

Police have initiated further investigation into the accident.
