Govt sanctions Rs 255 cr for road repairs in 3 cities
Gandhinagar: The state govt on Monday sanctioned Rs 255.06 crore for road repairs in Gandhinagar, Surat, and Rajkot cities. The amount will be disbursed from the Mukhyamantri Shaheri Sadak Yojana, an official statement said.According to the govt, Rs 181.50 crore was sanctioned for road repair works within the limits of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), Rs 60.72 crore for road repair within the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) limits, and Rs 12.84 crore for repairing roads of the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC).Apart from road repairs, the funds will be used for widening existing roads and building footpaths. The govt statement said that 519 works will be undertaken in Surat, 12 in Rajkot, and 7 in the state capital.The govt statement added that in the past four years, Rs 740.85 crore was sanctioned for various works of the SMC, Rs 186 crore for works of the RMC, and works worth Rs 57 crore for the Gandhinagar civic body.
