Trader flees with 2.3kg silver given for purity test
Ahmedabad: A Rajkot bullion businessman has accused a trader from Vatva of not returning the 2.3 kg of silver worth Rs 6 lakh he was given for purity test. Khadia police on Tuesday registered a criminal breach of trust case against the trader. According to the complaint, the incident occurred on April 2 at Manek Chowk in Ahmedabad’s old city. The complainant, who runs a bullion business from Soni Bazaar in Rajkot, had travelled to Ahmedabad along with a business partner for a silver transaction.The complainant stated that he and his partner had known the accused trader for around 18 years and had contacted him to assist with a purity test for silver. The accused was called to a location near the Old Stock Exchange building at Manek Chowk, where the businessmen allegedly handed over 2.3g of fine silver. Police said the silver was valued at approximately Rs 6 lakh.According to the complaint, the accused told the businessmen that he would get the silver tested and left the spot with the consignment. When he did not return after nearly 30 minutes, the complainant and his partner tried contacting him multiple times on his mobile phone. The complainant alleged that the accused switched off his phone and contact could not be established.
