Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: An 18-year-old youth was stabbed to death late on Saturday night in Parner village of Jalna's Ambad taluka, allegedly by a friend who is a minor, after a dispute over a love note given to the accused's sister, the police said.
Police sources said that on Saturday night, the minor accused allegedly confronted the 18-year-old, abused him and threatened him over the issue. In a fit of rage, the accused allegedly attacked the youth with a knife, stabbing him twice in the abdomen with the intention to kill. The youth sustained grievous injuries and collapsed, and eventually died.
The body was sent for postmortem to the Jalna district general hospital on Sunday morning. After the autopsy was completed, the body was handed over to the family for the last rites.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim's father, the Ambad police registered a case of murder. As the accused is a minor, he was detained and produced before the child welfare board as per juvenile justice norms.
Jalna additional superintendent of police Ayush Nopany said that the complaint named two other members of the minor accused's family for their alleged involvement in the crime. "However, so far, their role has not come to the fore during the investigation. If evidence emerges establishing their involvement, appropriate legal action will be taken," he said.
