BAREILLY: In a span of 24 hours, two dowry death cases were reported from Moradabad district.
In the first incident, a woman in her early 30s was allegedly burnt alive by her in-laws in Sattunagala of Moradabad district on Sunday after she refused to fulfil their demand of Rs 5 lakh. Police said the victim, Ishrat Jahan, was married for 10 years and has six children. An FIR has been registered and cops have begun investigation.
According to a complaint filed by her father Mohammad Hasnain, Jahan recorded her dying declaration in the presence of her neighbours, who had rushed her to hospital, and blamed her in-laws for her death.

“In her dying declaration, she accused her mother-in-law Phool Jahan and father-in-law Kausar Ali of forcing her to bring Rs 5 lakh from her father. And when she refused, her in-laws poured kerosene and set her on fire,” station house officer Mudhapandey said.
The SHO added that an FIR was registered against the victim's in-laws under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty).
In another incident, 19-year-old Nikhat Parveen was found hanging from a fan at her house in Moradabad’s Tambakuvala locality on Saturday.
According to the victim’s father Maksood Ahmed, his daughter had been facing harassment from her in-laws and husband for dowry.

SHO inspector Gajendra Singh said an FIR was registered under sections IPC sections 304 B (dowry death) and 498 A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) against four accused, including husband, mother-in-law Fahima Begum, sister-in-law Sana and brother in-law Iqbal.
“All the accused are at the large. We will nab them soon,” he added.
