Pilibhit: Samajwadi Party national general secretary Kuldeep Singh Bhullar on Monday launched the Sikh Samajik Nyay Yatra from Pilibhit, aiming to raise issues related to the Sikh community across Uttar Pradesh. The march will pass through 11 districts, including Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Bareilly, Meerut, and Saharanpur, before culminating in a major Sikh convention in Lucknow on June 6.Before flagging off the yatra, Bhullar met local Sikh leaders and offered prayers at Chhebi Patshahi Gurdwara. He also submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India through the local administration.Bhullar said the community, despite its contribution to India’s freedom movement and agricultural growth, remains underrepresented in legislative bodies and institutions. He highlighted issues faced by Sikh migrants settled in UP post-Partition, many of whom still lack ownership rights to allotted agricultural land.Key demands include restoration of Haridwar’s Gyan Godari Gurdwara, greater political representation, a separate Sikh commission, educational institutions, and financial support for gurdwara priests.
