BANGALORE: After Vidhana Soudha, sorcerers have zeroed in on Raj Bhavan, the governor's official residence. Security personnel discovered some material associated with black magic near the entrance. "We found some bangles, a handful of vermilion and turmeric, a lemon pierced with four nails and Yantra inscribed on a silver plaque. They were immediately cleared away.
We're not sure the target was Raj Bhavan or something else,'' officials said.
The blame game between ruling and opposition parties swiftly followed. "The black magic is the handiwork of chief minister B S Yeddyurappa's son as they strongly believe in the sorcerers of Kollegal. Who else other than the ruling party can escape the eyes of alert security personnel and perform black magic in the corridors of power?'' asked JD(S) MLC E Krishnappa.
"Our party or leaders have no belief in black magic and we believe only in the almighty. The whole world knows that the Gowda family is very superstitious and they rely on such things to grab power,'' said BJP spokesperson C T Ravi.
Similar witchcraft was done outside former Union minister C M Ibrahim's residence on Saturday. Siddaramaiah and former CM H D Kumaraswamy had met at Ibrahim's residence a couple of weeks ago to take stock of the political situation.
Gate protest
Local outfits, including Rajya Raitha Sangha and Dalit Sangharsha Samiti led by Agni Shridhar, staged a protest in front of Vidhana Soudha on Saturday against the closure of two eastern gates. Shridar said Vidhana Soudha is not the property of Yeddyurappa, his ministers or party members. "It belongs to the people of Karnataka. People cannot be barred from entering its precincts," he said. All agitators were taken into preventive custody.
Prohibitory orders
Prohibitory orders were clamped in and around a 2-km radius of Vidhana Soudha from October 11 to midnight October 13 in view of the special assembly session.
More divine help
Yeddyurappa continued to seek divine help as he visited several temples in Bangalore on Saturday and performed pujas to ward off evil spirits plaguing his government. After offering puja at the Lakhshminarasimha Swamy temple, the CM said he was confident of winning the trust vote and his temple visits were for the people's welfare. "I'm confident the rebel MLAs will return soon and help me win the vote of confidence,'' he added.
