BANGALORE: Former MP and JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy on Sunday accused the Congress of using government machinery and the state police for political ends. Chief minister S.M. Krishna is directly involved in efforts to curb the popularity of JD(S), he maintained. "If the government continues with its present attitude, we will tell workers to ensure no programmes of the CM take place in his constituency."
The latest example of the government''s negative attitude is imposition of section 144 at Hosur village in Ramanagaram taluk.
1x1 polls
"We were going there to do a ''pooja'' of Ganesha idol at the temple there. But the government claims there is tension in the village and have prevented us from holding the programme," he contended.
Polls off: Elections to the president''s post in Kutgal gram panchayat in Ramanagaram, scheduled on Saturday, were put off because the election officer claimed that he had been "kidnapped."
"The only reason the election was not held was because we were going to win. The officer was with the local Congress MLA and was not kidnapped at all," Kumaraswamy said.
