BANGALORE: The High Court, in an interim order, permitted the petitioner, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, to make admissions to under graduate and post-graduate courses in medicine on the lines of an earlier interim order.
MAHE will be able to admit NRI students up to 25% of the sanctioned quota according to the previous interim order. The HC extended the order issued last year with all the pre-set conditions.

PIL dismissed: The High Court on Tuesday dismissed a PIL challenging a BWSSB direction seeking payment by consumers for improving its service. The petitioner, L V Moss, said the BWSSB had already collected Rs 17.07 crore from 11,893 beneficiaries to meet the shortfall it was facing.
The amount varied from consumer to consumer based on the area of the building to which water was supplied. For a 600 sq ft building, it charged Rs 2,500 and Rs 15,000 for sites up to area of 2,400 sq ft.
"The demand was illegal and unjust," he said. The HC rejected the petition saying it could not be treated as a PIL and reserved the liberty to the petitioner to bring up the matter as a private right proceeding.
Contempt proceedings: The HC has decided to revive contempt proceedings against the government over the issue of its going back on the affidavits made to the court. The case pertained to the proposed peripheral road over Gottigere Tank.
Arrest warrant issued: The HC issued arrest warrants against B Krishna Reddy, Chandrashekar Reddy and Lokesh Reddy for seeking relief against the same property through same counsel in three different suits.
The trio had refused to receive contempt notice at home which was a viewed seriously by the court. The court directed the police to produce them before the jurisdictional magistrate.
