In a major accident at the work site of Tebma Ship Builders at Malpe, a worker engaged in grinding work inside the tank of a vessel was burnt to death on the spot, when a fire - believed to be from a spark which caught his uniform - engulfed him, around 10.30 am on Wednesday.

UDUPI: In a major accident at the work site of Tebma Ship Builders at Malpe, a worker engaged in grinding work inside the tank of a vessel was burnt to death on the spot, when a fire - believed to be from a spark which caught his uniform - engulfed him, around 10.30 am on Wednesday.
Babul Kumar Singh (23), hailing from Bihar, was working with two others inside the tank, who just about managed to escaped the fire.

Their co-workers protested and pelted stones at the company office and its vehicles, and threw stones on a police vehicle parked nearby. Their grouse was that the management did not allow them to see Babul's body.
