Madhya Pradesh horror: Minor rejects marriage proposal; axed to death in Jabalpur, accused on the run

JABALPUR: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly axed to death by a 22-year-old youth early on Tuesday. The accused hid near the girl's house, and as soon as she stepped out, he allegedly axed her to death.The incident took place in Sakra village under Patan police station in Jabalpur district. The accused, Rakesh Raikwar (22), allegedly had a one-sided interest in the girl and earlier threatened her family after they refused his marriage proposal.According to additional SP Suryakant Sharma, the accused was a resident of the same village and expressed interest in marrying the minor. He had approached her mother with the proposal, but was refused due to age difference and caste. After being turned down, he allegedly warned that if the girl did not agree to marry him, he would not let her marry anyone else.The incident took place around 2.30 am. The girl was sleeping in a room with her 19-year-old sister while the parents and younger siblings were in another room.The elder sister woke up to her sibling's cries and saw the accused attacking her with an axe. He hit the girl on the head before fleeing with the weapon.Family members informed police, and the girl's body was sent for a postmortem examination. A case of murder was registered, and police teams are searching for the accused, Sharma said.
