Bhopal: A 23-year-old stalker allegedly molested a 17-year-old girl who lived in his neighbourhood. The survivor, a Class 8 dropout who works as a babysitter, had been facing harassment for the past six months.
Recently, the youth made inappropriate advances toward her. After the girl informed her mother, she was advised to cut off all communication with him. Enraged by the rejection, the accused began stalking her. On May 21, the accused intercepted the minor while she was on her way and threatened to defame her socially if she refused to talk to him.
Though the survivor’s mother initially confronted the suspect’s family to resolve the matter quietly, the relief was short-lived. On Thursday, the youth cornered the minor once again, repeating his defamatory threats. Refusing to back down, the teenager and her mother approached the Kolar police, who have registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS and the
POCSO Act on Thursday.
