SAMBALPUR: The Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, suspended two final-year BTech students for one year from the university with effect from January 11, and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on each of them for beating up a student at the hostel. Two other final-year BTech students have also been fined Rs 25,000 each for their involvement in the incident.
The four students, against whom action has been initiated, are Pratyush Ranjan Mohanty, Tushar Dash, Abhijit Samal and
Mrutyunjaya Sahu.
While all the four students have been fined, Pratyush and Tushar have been rusticated for one year.
The order said the varsity has rusticated Pratyush and Tushar for one year besides imposing a fine of Rs 25,000 on each of them. They have been asked to submit the sum by January 20.
They will not be allowed to enter the hostel or the varsity premises and violation of the imposed punishment will lead to termination of their studentship from the university. It said the punishment will not be altered under any circumstances and no appeal in this regard will be entertained.
