Chandigarh: During the 11th meeting of the governing council of NITI Aayog, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini presented a series of proposals aimed at positioning the state as a key industrial and tech hub. He urged the Centre to include Haryana among the first 50 industrial parks under the national industrial development scheme. He also sought a special incentive package to develop Haryana as a hub for semiconductors, data centres and electronics manufacturing.
Saini further proposed establishing a national-level AI Centre of Excellence in the state, and requested central support for developing artificial intelligence and Global Capability Centre ecosystems. Additional assistance was sought for industrial model townships, sector-specific industrial parks, green hydrogen initiatives and renewable energy projects.
Reiterating Haryana's alignment with the national vision of Viksit Bharat-2047, the chief minister said the state has prepared its Vision Document targeting a $1 trillion contribution to the Indian economy and raising per capita income above Rs40 lakh by 2047.
He said India, under the Prime Minister's leadership, has witnessed decisive governance reforms over the past 12 years, strengthening its global standing. Highlighting education reforms, Saini said Haryana was the first state to implement the National Education Policy 2020. "The state has conducted over 17,800 School Readiness Fairs and strengthened early education outreach. Through the Super-100 scheme, 267 students have secured admission in premier IITs, NITs and medical institutions over the past five years. Haryana has also established 250 PM SHRI Schools, 218 Model Sanskriti Schools and 250 CM EEE schools to enhance learning outcomes. With 61 women's colleges and a college within a 20-km radius across the state, access to higher education has been expanded significantly," said a statement released by the state govt.
Calling Haryana the "powerhouse of Indian sports," the chief minister said all 18 wrestlers selected for India's Asian Games 2026 team are from the state. He added that Haryana is preparing for the 2036 Olympics through its Mission Olympic-2036 Vijayi Bhav initiative.
