IMD issues thunderstorm, hailstorm alert for Delhi-NCR

NEW DELHI: Delhi witnessed a pleasant change in weather on Thursday, providing much-needed relief from the scorching heat.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning, forecasting a wet spell across northwest India till June 13 under the influence of a western disturbance.
According to the IMD, "Under the influence of western disturbance, wet spell likely over northwest India till 13th with possibility of thunderstorm with gusty winds (50-60 kmph) & hailstorm on 11th & 12th June, 2026." Earlier this week, parts of Delhi-NCR experienced rainfall following a prolonged spell of scorching temperatures. The IMD has predicted that rainfall activity will expand across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan between June 10 and 14. The weather department has also indicated that a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from June 11 onwards, bringing widespread changes in weather conditions.
