MOGA: The police have arrested two women in a case of second marriage registered at the City police station four months ago. Both were produced before the chief judicial magistrate here who remanded them to judicial custody.

MOGA: The police have arrested two women in a case of second marriage registered at the City police station four months ago. Both were produced before the chief judicial magistrate here who remanded them to judicial custody.
The case was registered on January 22 against Dawinder Singh, his second wife Sandip Kaur alias Salma, mother Manjit Kaur, motherin-law Kulwant Kaur and two other relatives following a complaint by the first wife Sarabjit Kaur.

Sarabjit had alleged that his husband secretly married another woman in February, 1998, during pendency of divorce petition between them by procuring bogus conversion certificate from a Muslim maulvi.
The second wife gave birth to a child on August 15, 1999, in a private hospital. Though Dawinder Singh had changed his name to Dilawar Khan after conversion but he mentioned his previous name for getting the new born registered in the record of the registrar, births and deaths. When the first wife came to know of this entry, she lodged the complaint.
