Haryana rights panel inspects Jind jail
Jind: A team led by Haryana Human Rights Commission chairperson Lalit Batra on Monday inspected Jind district jail, checking facilities provided to inmates.Before the inspection, Batra also held a review meeting with the district administration. The meeting at PWD Rest House was attended by commission members Kuldip Jain and Deep Bhatia, registrar Sanjay Kumar Khanduja, assistant registrar Puneet Arora, deputy commissioner Mohammad Imran Raza, superintendent of police Kuldeep Singh, and DDPO Sandeep Sharma.

Batra said the protection of citizens' rights must be ensured under all circumstances. "During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the status of human rights in the district, law and order, protection of women and children, prevention of atrocities against scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, prisoners' rights, and the redressal mechanism for public grievances," he added.During the jail's inspection, the panel examined basic facilities provided to inmates, including clean drinking water, quality of food, healthcare services, sanitation, the condition of residential barracks, legal aid, and counselling services. The chairperson directed the authorities to ensure full compliance with the human rights of prisoners and to address any deficiencies on a priority basis.
