Saragarhi Day: Army cycle expedition flagged off
PATHANKOT: To commemorate the 111th Saragarhi Day and instill spirit of adventure , GoC of Gurj Division, Major General Ravi Harsh Varadhan flagged off an Army cycle expedition at Mamun Cantonment near here.
Led by Lt Nirmalendu, the expedition, comprising of one JCO and eight jawans, will traverse the border district of Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Ferozepur and will end up at Saragarhi Gurdwara in Ferozepur on September 12.

Addressing the officers and jawans of the division, Vardhan said each soldier must try to emulate the gallant soldiers of the battle of Saragarhi and imbibe in them the spirit of sacrifice.
While at Amritsar, the team members will pay homage at Saragarhi Gurdwara and visit the Golden Temple, they will also visit other historic and religious places before the expedition terminates at Ferozepur. At Ferozepur.
The team members will be received by GOC of 10 Corps Col of Sikh Regiment and local dignitaries, said an Army spokesman.
