Six hurt, 1 missing in Rewari ink plant fire
Rewari: A massive blaze at a chemical ink factory here has left six workers injured and one missing, triggering an overnight search and rescue operation. The fire started around noon on Tuesday at GLS Company's plant, sending toxic plumes of smoke over Rewari district's Bawal industrial township and taking almost 24 hours to contain. Highly flammable chemical stockpiles kept the firefighters engaged till Wednesday morning.Superintendent of police Hemendra Kumar Meena confirmed that emergency teams had rescued six workers and moved them to hospital with severe burns. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) continues to search the structural ruins for a factory worker, whom relatives couldn't find.Local administrators and police cordoned off Sector 5 of the township on Wednesday to monitor the search, rescue, and relief efforts. Meena said: "Once the situation stabilises, there will be an impartial investigation into possible negligence on part of the company management."The industrial disaster has renewed local scrutiny over safety compliance and regulatory oversight within Haryana's rapidly expanding chemical manufacturing zones. Emergency personnel remain stationed at the perimeter to prevent residual chemical flare-ups. MSID:: 131227877 413 |
