Theatre workshops coming up for children

CHANDIGARH: With summer vacations coming up, the season of workshops to engage children in creative activities is also set to begin. From theatre to music and dance workshops, many will be on offer for schoolchildren. Out of these, registrations for the most popular one, theatre, have already begun. Department of cultural affairs, Chandigarh and Tagore Theatre Society will conduct theatre workshops for children in the age group of 6 to 12 years at Tagore Theatre and at different community centres in the city from June 1 to 30. The workshops are a huge hit amongst parents and the society was in talks with various schools as well. However, this year it will continue to conduct the workshops at community centres catering to children residing in different localities. The timings of the workshop will be 9am to 11am. Interested children can register themselves at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18.Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi's theatre workshop for children will be conducted from June 1 to 15. The workshop will be conducted by Jasvir Kumar and Chainis Gill at CSNA Hall, State Library, Sector 34, daily. All the students will be awarded a certificate of participation for the workshop that will be held between 4pm and 7pm.These workshops will also give students a chance to perform on stage as each one will be followed by a staging of the plays created during the workshops.
