CHENNAI: The induction of RK Nagar MLA N Marie Wilson and Velachery MLA R Kumar into the cabinet has further strengthened Chennai’s representation in the ministry, adding to the existing band of ministers from the city, including CM C Joseph Vijay, rural development minister N Anand, PWD minister Aadhav Arjuna and school education minister A Rajmohan.
A total of 23 ministers have been inducted into the cabinet making the total number to 33. However, their portfolio list hasn't been released yet.
Two Congress MLAs S Rajesh Kumar, from Killiyur, and P Viswanathan, from Melur in Madurai district, get cabinet berths.
This is the first time that a coalition govt was formed in TN as Congress MLAs become ministers.
Former speaker P Dhanapal's son Logesh Tamilselvan, from Rasipuram constituency, also gets a cabinet berth.
With a total of 33 cabinet berths, only two remain vacant, possibly one each for VCK and IUML.
