Erode cop suspended for drunk driving

ERODE: The Erode district police suspended head constable Saravana Prakash of Thalavadi police station after a video of him driving an official vehicle recklessly under the influence of alcohol went viral in social media. In the video clip, Prakash is seen swerving the vehicle dangerously on the Thudupathi–Kunnathur Road.Saravana Prakash was driving a vehicle used by an inspector. “He consumed liquor and drove the vehicle in a disorderly manner. Fellow motorists recorded the incident and shared it online, prompting immediate departmental action,” said a police officer.District superintendent of police D V Kiran Shruthi summoned the constable for an inquiry. During the inquiry, it was confirmed that Prakash had been drunk while driving the vehicle. “The SP ordered his suspension from duty and directed his transfer to the armed reserve,” said the officer.
