Court denies bail to contractors in Janakpuri biker death case
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Wednesday denied bail to contractors Himanshu Gupta and Kavish Gupta in connection with Janakpuri biker death case, taking note of the seriousness of the incident and stage of investigation. The court also vacated the interim protection from arrest granted to the duo on Feb 10.Parallely, a magistrate court also dismissed the bail plea of subcontractor Rajesh Prajapati, who had been charged with withholding information about the accident.

ASJ Harleen Kaur was hearing the applications moved by the Gupta duo, who had earlier been granted interim protection from arrest. The court had directed that no coercive steps be taken against them until Feb 18 and recorded their undertaking to join the investigation as required from Feb 11.During the hearing, counsel for the applicants submitted that the two contractors were executing work allotted through a govt contract and were "simply doing their job," and had no deliberate hand in the said incident. However, opposing the pleas, the respondent's counsel argued that "a family had lost their son due to the alleged lack of due diligence on the part of the accused," therefore, they shouldn't be granted bail this easily.
