Since the beginning of this celestial gathering, the total number of holy dips until 24th January stood at an impressive 10.80 crore. With the latest figures from today, the cumulative count has surpassed 11.47 crore, marking an extraordinary turnout.

Among the countless devotees, over 10 lakh Kalpwasis—pilgrims who commit to a month-long stay by the riverbanks—have added to the serene and spiritual atmosphere of the Mahakumbh. The event, steeped in faith and tradition, continues to draw pilgrims from across the globe, making it a testament to India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

Saif Ali Khan case: Facial recognition test to confirm identity of actor’s attacker

Shariful Fakir, arrested for the January 16 attack on actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence, will undergo a digital facial recognition test (FRT). Police will escort him to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Kalina to verify his identity amidst uncertainties.

Investigators are probing a potential link between the accused and a person captured on CCTV on the 6th floor of Satguru Sharan, who was seen ascending to Saif’s 11th-floor apartment and fleeing between 1.30am and 2.30am Evidence, including blood samples, stained clothing from both the victim and the suspect, and materials retrieved from the crime scene, has been sent to FSL for analysis.

A thin blanket of fog enveloped the National Capital on Saturday morning. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature is recorded at 9°C, with moderate fog conditions predicted for the day.

Both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to dip slightly over the next two days as cold northwesterly winds are forecasted to sweep through the city.

For the fourth consecutive day, severe cold weather persisted across the Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) and Parvathipuram Manyam districts. Chintapalle in the ASR district recorded the season's lowest minimum temperature of 5°C on Friday, January 24.

This marks the first instance this season where Chintapalle and nearby areas reported sub-5°C temperatures, as per data from the Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS), the primary weather monitoring center in the district.
