GPS-tagged photo proof must for RWAs to claim park maintenance payments, says Gurgaon civic body
Gurgaon: MCG has issued new instructions to city resident welfare associations requiring them to submit regular photographic proof of park maintenance across the city.
The civic body has specified that RWAs responsible for maintaining neighbourhood parks must now submit colour printouts of GPS-tagged photographs documenting the condition of each park under their care. MCG officials said that failure to comply with these instructions will lead to non-processing of payments for park maintenance.
Six photographs covering the entire park area must be taken during three specific periods every month. The timeline given by MCG for submission of photos includes between the 1st and 5th, 15th and 20th, and 25th and 30th of the month.
These photographs must capture the full park area and serve as proof that maintenance activities, such as gardening, cleanliness and upkeep, are being carried out regularly.
“All Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) concerned are hereby informed that, in accordance with the directions of the Executive Engineer (Horticulture), it is mandatory to submit colour printouts of GPS-tagged photographs for each park under your maintenance. For every park, 6-6 photographs covering the entire park area must be taken during the following periods of each month… Please note that non-compliance with these instructions shall result in the non-processing of payments,” read the order recently issued by MCG.
Officials have also directed RWAs to submit the photos along with their monthly maintenance bills during the first week of the following month.
MCG officials said that there are around 1,400 parks in the city, out of which nearly 90% are maintained by RWAs. MCG pays the RWA Rs 4.63 per sq metre for park maintenance. The rates increase by 5% every year.
In the current 2026-27 FY, MCG has allocated Rs 30 crore for the repair and maintenance of parks, up from last year’s Rs 26 crore. In 2025-26, MCG spent nearly Rs 22 crore on maintenance of parks across the city. The allocation in 2024-25 FY was Rs 15 crore for the repair and upkeep of parks in the city.
